so whats are we discussing tonite???
    no updates ankahi team?

  • Eastern Occupied (Pakistani) Balochistan

Before the Partition of India and creation of Pakistan in 1947, Balochistan was a free
sovereign independent state with it own parliament, the Dar-ul Awaam (the House of
Commons) and Dar-ul Umraa (House of Lords). Soon after the creation of Pakistan, it
invaded Balochistan and forcefully annexed it into Pakistan. Balochistan, rich in oil and
Gas with a 900 miles of warm water strategically located costline was very important for
the survival Pakistan. The Baloch people didn’t have a strong big army compare to
Pakistani army, but still they resisted the Pakistani Occupation of their Baloch land.
Thousands Baloch took up arms to defend their land from the occupiers. Many thousands
Baloch got killed and many hundreds were arrested and later executed by Pakistani
Military. A half million Baloch took refuge in Neighboring countries, like Afghanistan,
    Tajikistan, and India.

While the Genocide of Baloch Nation continued by Pakistani military, the world watched as silent spectator and didn’t do anything about it to stop it. It
took 10 years before the Pakistani military crushed the Baloch insurgency and took control of most of the cities of Balochistan. Baloch though lost the
battle, but the struggle for freedom continued. In 1968, another arm struggle was organized by Nawab Nowroz Khan Zarakzi, to liberate Baloch land
(Balochistan) from Pakistan. He was later arrested by Pakistani military, when he came for negotiation with army. He and his sons and nephews and
his 70 freedom fighter followers were taken to Hyderabad Jail, where all of them were hanged (executed), but him, for anti-State (anti-Pakistan)
charges. He was held in the prison due to his old age, where he later passed away at the age of 92. The Baloch struggle for freedom continued.

In 1970-1977 Baloch took up arm again to fight the occupier Pakistani army to liberate their land. This time Baloch were better prepared and they
inflected heavy casualties to Pakistan’s military, but due to the lack of international support, Baloch lost the battle again and the insurgency was
crushed by well armed Pakistani army, using tanks, and gunship helicopters. The insurgency lasted for 5 years and about 18 thousand Baloch were
killed by Pakistani military, while the death toll of Pakistani army personnel was about 12thousand.

From 1977-2008, Pakistan continues its crime against Baloch people. Thousand Baloch political activists and students have been arrested since then
and are being tortured in secret jails. Many hundreds are missing, Pakistani military, paramilitary and security forces are given tasks to arrest, kidnap
or kill any Baloch who talks or think about freedom. More than 600 military check post have been established all over Balochistan to control the activities
and movements of Baloch people. There are 80 thousand troops stationed in Balochistan and more troops are on the way. Balochistan have been
turned into a military occupied war zone. Baloch people are living in fear and in hopelessness. They are desperately looking at the world community
and the freedom loving people for their help and rescue against the tyranny of Pakistani and Iranian regimes. They are saying, “Enough is enough”.

    Western Occupied (Iranian) Balochistan.

In 19th century the British and Persian Empires divided Balochistan in to Eastern “British Balochistan” and western “Iranian Balochistan” as part of their
colonial policy of “divide and rule”, to weaken the Baloch unity as one Nation. The Baloch in Western Balochistan have been in constant revolt against
the domination by and chauvinistic policy of Iranian governments. The revolt of Jask (1873), of Sarhad (1888) and the general uprising in 1889 resulted
in a scorched earth policy by Iranian forces in 1889, aimed at suppressing the Baloch rebellion. A major uprising under Baloch chieftain Sardar
Hussein Narui in 1896 prompted a joint Anglo-Persian expeditionary force to crush the resistance. The resistance was crushed after two years and
Chief Narui was arrested. In the beginning of the twentieth century, Bahram Khan gained control of almost the entire central and southern region of
Western Balochistan, ending the occupation by Iranian forces. In 1916, the British recognized him as the effective ruler of Western Balochistan. His
nephew, Mir Dost Mohamed succeeded Mir Bahram Khan. Mir Dost Mohamed’s attempts to consolidate his power coincided with the rise to power in
Persia of Reza Khan in 1921. In 1928 the Iranian forces began an operation against Mir Dost Mohamed.

Skirmishes continued for seven months and ended in the victory of Iranian forces over the Baloch and the eventual surrender of Mir Dost Mohamed.
Thus Western Balochistan was finally annexed by the Persian Empire. Until the Shah’s overthrow in January 1979, the Baloch Nationalist Movement in
Iran was a relatively insignificant force compared to the movement in Pakistani Balochistan. Due to suppression, the harsh methods that were used by
Iranian security forces and persecution by SAVAC (the Iranian secret police under the Shah), its leaders were forced to emigrate and operate
underground from foreign countries. They had little ongoing contact with their widely scattered supporters inside Iran. The handful of Baloch activists,
who braved the Shah’s repression, kept alive the spirit of resistance to Persian domination and thus directly set the stage for the resurgence of
nationalist activity that took place after the overthrow of the Shah. After the Shah’s overthrow a new political force emerged in Balochistan, alongside
traditional leaders comprising mostly of the educated young Baloch people.

Treatment of Baloch in Western (Iranian) occupied Balochistan.

Baloch people in Iran are treated as third class citizens, and are deprived of their cultural, social and
economic rights. They are rapidly losing their identity. The previously Baloch-dominated regions of Bandar Abbas, part of Kerman, Seistan and Zabol
are the most affected areas of the assimilation efforts by the Persian state. Now in all these areas the Baloch are a minority, even the capital city of
Zahidan does not look like a Baloch city. The Baloch in Iran are completely excluded from the structures of political, social and economic powers of the
country. The dissemination of Balochi culture and language is a declared act of treason against the state and is dealt with through brutal measures.
Many army garrisons are permanently stationed in Baloch areas. For most of the fifty years of Pahlavi rule, Tehran had to depend primarily on the use of
overt military force to keep the Baloch areas under control, even when there was little co-ordinated insurgent activity. Politically and economically the
Baloch are kept weak, disunited, and backward as much as Possible. This policy was implemented in practice so that in the last years of the Shah’s
regime Balochistan was the poorest province “with an estimated annual per capita income of $975, less than half of the $22000 national average for
rural areas and less than one-fifth of the overall national average.” Balochistan is still the poorest province in Iran, followed by Kurdistan. The demise of
the Palavi dynasty and establishment of the Islamic Republic have not brought about any positive changes to the situation of the Baloch people, but
    rather have worsened the oppression.

The use of the Balochi language is forbidden in public places and Baloch children are deprived of using their mother tongue as the medium of
instruction at school. The Iranian government does not allow any kind of freedom of press in Balochistan. Successive Iranian governments have been
engaged in demographic manipulations to systematically reduce the Baloch people to a minority in their own homeland. Government policy has been
based on giving easy access to non-Baloch to purchase land at a cheap price. The policy of keeping the Baloch backward has resulted in the lack of
job opportunities and impoverishment of the entire population. The policy of Iranian governments in dealing with different sectors of Baloch society is
based on “divide and rule”. The politics of the Iranian Government in Balochistan is characterized by human rights violations and abuse. It has distorted
political, economical and cultural development of Balochistan and insulted the human dignity of Baloch people. Religion is manifestly being used as a
mean to assimilate Baloch nationality into Persian national identity. These basic realities have reinforced the Baloch’s general feeling of frustration and
determination of having their own independent State.

It is said there are no role models in our country worthy of being called role models.
I know a lady who got married after college, raised 3 children, started teaching, doing volunteer service at various places once her children were school going. She taught english at PACC.She started training for teachers. She went on to get trained in how to teach Dyslectic children and Speech therapy. Got herself enrolled at the University for a Master’s programme in speech therapy. Is currently enrolled in a Ph.D programme for the same. And all the while continuing her teaching, volunteer service at various hospitals for the disabled and lastly buit not the least looking after not only her family and friends but also giving service in any way to all who may ask of her or she gets to hear of them.

These are role models within our society

  • MQuraishi

    Faisal Sahib Aoa,
My question to both you and your guest is What about the frustration of those people who are working in the service industry?

And as to what you can do, well how about adopting one of the many much maligned madrasahs and imparting education to the children enrolled there alongwith their religious education.

salaam!………really thre iz no words 2 tell hw much u doin a great job kep it up fasil…….

  • Cyma

And one thing more… i think many of us ( people from media and not from media) can learn the art of questioning from Faisal….

If we really want to dialogue and generate a discussion to resolve the issue the bottom line is “Never put the other person in defensive mode”" and he surely knows how and when to play his cards….

No matter what the situation, issue, problem is, Respect is the right of everyone.

  • Cyma

    Dear Ankahi Team,

Good job .. its good to see that there is still a group of people trying to focus more on the issues which are the real root cause of many bigger problems we face as a nation….. I m glad that in a time when every channel is trying to get SOME mileage by pulling the legs of each and every one who has got something to do with politics you guys are trying to stick to something which is REALLY needed!!! even in the shows about politics the idea is to highlight the solutions and thats what “responsible media” means to me as a Pakistani.

Ankahi indeed is an effort to help people reflect on and analyze their own behaviors and see how this is linked with the bigger problems we are facing!!! This surely helps us see what we can do as citizens to make things better

good job and KEEP WALKING!!!! each and every mile COUNTS!

  • TAKE A QUAID’S PIC, TAKE A LOOK AT IT AND CLOSE UR EYES AND THINK THAT QUAID IS ASKING U TO GUARD HIS PAKISTAN AND MAKE IT JANNAT FOR EVERYONE, EVEN FOR THE NON-MUSLIMS.
U VLL FEEL THAT THIS COUNTRY IS WAITING FOR U ONLY.
    WAKE UP…….

  • salam
as far as u r talkin that balochi people are not gettin their rights. i agree with u but, if u read the history and think that they them self want them or their ways of demanding their rights is correct, then i do not agree wid u.
if u go and take a round of balochistan the inner one u vll see that from the very begining they want a seperate home land. balochi as well as sindhi. these r only punjabi who have, till now played a roll of combining of pakistan.
yes its wrong that they r treated like this…
ITS NOT THE TIME TO SAY THAT BALOCHIS ARE IN TROUBLE BUT WE HAVE TO THINK AND FEEL THAT PAKISTANIS OF NORTH-WEST R IN TROUBLE.STOP DIVING US IN DIFFERENT TROOPS. V LYE UNDER ONE FLAG THATS PAKISTAN’S FLAG.AND V HAVE TO ACCEPT THAT THEY ARE PAKISTANI AND SHOULD BE GIVEN THEIR RIGHTS.

  • rubikhan

With all due respect and sympathy to the People of “Chand Baluchistan”, they must know that Freedom from Pakistan will drop them into the hands of the “Masterminds of All Massacare”, which will be the worst of all slaveries. People of Baluschistan should stop listening to their leaders and join ‘People of Pakistan’ for the “Freedom and Prosperity of the People of Pakistan.”

  • OOOooo… musharraf ha people r tryin to forget but some of his “chamchey” again talk about him and remind the whole nation about their horrible past lal masjid, swat operation, 100s of 100s of bomb blast, cheif justice ka case and many more. who will answer for that.he himself said that i had commited crime.but as i said chamchey they never stop chamcegri.
musharraf represents pakistsan in such a damn way that from the word pakistan, aik gali ban gai hia “paki”.pakistan ki image us ne itni tabah ki ke agley sath nasley bhi kerin to na ker sakin.aur sab kerney ke bad bhi aaj woh phir pakistan ka president baney ke lye tayar hai. i m not sayin that i m with ppp or any other party bt he actually did this.
talkin about the talibans. I WANT SHARIAT TO ESTABLISH IN MY COUNTRY BUT IT SHOULD BE ESTABLISH BY STATE NOT BY TALIBAN.and let me remind everyone jo sahi taliban hai woh pakistan ke sath hain.woh khud in ke swat waloon ke sath ler rahe hain kiun ke yeh america ruse or india ke banai howey hain.islam ke khelaff.in ko to kalmah bhi nahi ata bass hath mein tasbi, ser per pagri, shalwar uper kerney or darhi uga leney se koi taliban nahi ban jata.
there r other ways to clean the shits…militency ko khatam kerney ke aur bhi tarikey hian.lal masjid mein loggon ne iss ki anpey party ke loggon ne iss ke paoon ko pakra roi iss ke samney ke lal masjid ko shaid maat kero per iss ko tu tamasha dekhna tha. bicharey colnol ko bhi iss ne marwaya tha jo us waqat duty per tha.he rejected to act against them because he knew that musharraf is wrong.
hazaroon cases us ke kilaf hian.america ka agent tha woh. wahan se dollar katha aur yahan se apne loggon ko marwata.hazaroon logon ko us ne kidnap kerwa ker america ke hawaley kia aur ka terrorist hain wah.pakistan se pyar hota tu apni ulaad ko bhi pakistan hi rakhta aur abhi ke bhi politicians sudrey nahi hain.
OPPOsITION mein ja ker sare farishtey ban jatey hain pata nahi jab hakumat mein atey hain tu kiss ki howa lagg jati hai.
pakistan ka mustaqbil tu boht acha hai per der yeh hai ke yeh mustaqbil paney ke lye zyada nuqsaan na uthana pere.

  • Afsheen

    Salam,

Going through some of the old posts from anti musharraf people i couldnt help but laugh at their damn thinking back than and the situation in Pakistan right now with the taliban given a license to kill their way through implementing their agendas in a soveriegn nuclear state.

Those in favour of a democracy didnt realise the people acting as democrats are not qualified and capable enough to do so and their thinking is only to cement their places and power rather than work on real issues and a stable and united pakistan.

What Musharraf supporters knew is being felt today, the last year has been a total disaster for the country the democrats are a failure along with their supporters. The only reason for the existence they feel is to blame musharraf for the problems of the past, present and future but its clearly backfiring now and hitting them where it hurts, their supporters will start hiding soon as their thinking and opinion is only bringing them destruction.

As i read some old posts some idiots long time ago use to come up with their stupid and dumn remarks and they thought they are the cleverist.what ever they knew and said is turning out to be utter rubbish and i’m sure they’ll be hiding in shame and looking at the situation in the country and still blame musharraf as thats the only thing embedded in their empty heads…..

Musharraf was cleaning up the mess of the last 50 years when he came in power, mess left by military and civilian government of both economy and militancy and nawabs who always dictated and challenged Pakistans writ.

Cleaning up the mess was a unpopular decision but the right one for the long term stability of the country so no nawab or militant group can threaten the existence of the country.Cleaning up the Bugtis, banning militant groups and starting campaign against foreigners and taliban who ultimately would threaten the existence of pakistan, which is being proven now in FATA and other places like Swat, the lal masjid brigade and others.

whatever the consequences of all the above and if the reaction to this was all violent in increase suicide bombings but at no stage pakistans writ was defeated and handed over to any of the named above. The militant groups were banned, alot arrested, Bugtis cleaned up, alot of al-qaeda killed or captured, extremists in lal masjid killed and the masjid was done away with any extremist activity,in swat when army went the taliban ran into the mountains and were only left in 20 or more percent of the area.Fazall-ullah left his strong hold of imam dairy, and even if their was no total control of army in swat their presence there was still a deterrent for anyone trying to implement a violent agenda of theirs.Sufi Mohammad was in prison for last 7 years so he had no role…

in the last year all we saw was backtracking on committments and flip flops on different issues from not being able to handle the economy, to coming under indian pressure, to punjab government and than cheap justice restoration..

Just when you thought it couldnt get worst, they have shown they are even worse representatives of this country by handing back the iniative gained by musharraf by totally giving up all of swat to the taliban by facing defeat from minor thugs like bugtis grandson and by helping get lal masjid back on its agenda, as the cheap justice has released aziz to start his mission again..

Swat bill was passed more quicker than any other bill prob in the history and only mqm had the rightfull thinking in going against it, both ppp and pml-n who are just making sure the stay in power for the next 5 years are making decisions and than thinking over what they have done and than trying to reverse the decision they have taken…

Full support was given to sufi and the nizam-e-adil due to false hope that it will bring peace and taliban will stop their, but like every issue ppp and pml-n have got their calculations totally wrong this time..Army was struggling when taliban didnt control all of swat, now they control swat fully and are expanding into neighbouring districts which have made these politicians of ppp and pml-n to start panicking and backtracking on their decisions to support it in the first place…it will be more hard prob impossible to go back in these areas and get control back. The taliban will push downwards and lal masjid cleric after being released will be happy to ablige from the capital…

Under Musharraf we could only think of a few bombs going off or a few pipe lines blown up in baluchistan but we still had forces controlling these areas and not giving free hand to the enemies of pakistan but with the democratically elected incompetents we are facing losing large territory to tliabn in the north and places like baluchistan and their criminals like bgtis grandson who was hiding for his life under musharraf asking for independence under the present set up of weak and brain drained leaders….

In one year they have totally begged their way in the economy, they have given large areas to taliban, baluchistan to the anti pakistan elements, lal masjid back to the cleric again…

Some morons have got happy on the re-instatment of the politicised judge they claimed he will take up the issue of NRO and missing person and lal masjid and so on, but his supporters are disappointed once again, the NRO hasnt even been talked about since his come back..so the people who were happy to see him back, they are certainly being shown the reality now which their lower brain cells couldnt show them…

Going through some old comments of certain low life wannabees who from time to time forgot their ukaath its funny that all the things they thought will hapen and that they are rite, is a totall slap in their faces the way the situation is today….never any government has been so cluless and directionless. One government is sitting in the red zone in islamabad and the other in raiwind, the rest of the country they dont give a damn who takes it whether taliban or bugtis or someone else….

I can safely say congrats to Musharraf supporters all along we knew what we were talking about, the results are to be seen clearly,no one could’ve predicted that they will bring the situation to collapse this quickly…the taliban who anti-musharraf people praised so much just for the hatred of musharraf are openly challenging their existence and soon they will all start having the same opinion Musharraf did but by than it’ll be too late….

A problem can exist but their is a solution to every problem, rather than knowing the solution, in one year the present retards have had only one agenda to blame the past, present and future on musharraf, whilst all the problems which they said existed have multiplied to dangerous levels….

Its a reality check and shameful time for people who loved taliban so much just to bring down musharraf and now they are feeling terrified from the same people, for those who had no brian cells and said army not with musharraf(hmmm but they still protect him and he still is in army house), for those who thought cheap justice will deal with NRO, well shame he hasnt, he only has authority in a few towns, for those people who thought bugtis were great patriots, well they want independence and those democracy lovers of current setup who thought democracy is better than dictatorship, well congrats democracy has passed bill in parliament to give swat in hands of murderers and the rest of the places will follow….

One positive in all this is that people who were of so much praise for taliban are feeling the pain of reality and changing their opinions coz only than this prob can be dealt with, but its something too little too late….

    Pakistan Zindabad
    Musharraf supporters Zindabad

Those who wrongfully thought they have any brain cells, well finally hope u guys are waking up to reality, your arguments have been proven wrong and complete nonsence…..

  • Y THEY WONT DO THIS? BCOZ V DONT WANT THEM TO DO THIS. LEADERS R NOT HERE BY THEM SELF.V R THE ONES WHO ELECTED THEM AND V R RESPONSIBLE 4 WHT IS HAPPENING.THEY R ONE OF US.LAW SHOULD EQUAL FOR THEM.
AND WHERE PPL R SAYIN THAT TALIBAN ARE TERRORIST.YES THEY R TERRORIST AND WE MUST ALSO BE…TERRORIST AGAINST CRUELTY, TERRORIST AGAINST GAMBLIN, TERRORIST AGAINST RAPE ETC…

    Want the Pakistan Jinnah visioned?

Then start of by striving for the promises to be fullfiled in the Lahore Resolution and then The Pakistan Resolution.

After that recognize the pact between Liaqat Ali Khan and Nehru on the migrants tranfer under the supervision of Jinnah himself.

And where you condem the Taliban in Sawat, also condem the ‘Gundas’ in the cities!

Viva la Sindh; and ultimately Pakistan! :)
