The closest free and fair elctions were in 1970,under the "legal framework Order from then Gen.Yahya, with the flaws that lead to election of just 1 party in the East Pakistan. The situation was really dangerous, because of the extemism created thru the L.F.Order, but the results were not accepted by the civil and military leadership and ended up with dismemberment of the Biggest Islamic Nation of 20th century. Our dishonesty with the democratic values made us fall apart. Did we learn any lesson from that Fall. We had a "justice hamoodur Rahman Commision report" to find the causes of that tragedy, which could not be published, because we dont want to see our ugly face in the mirror of honest criticism. Our problem does not rest in the system, but in the "committment to the values" which made us different from the people of India(hinoos)to make us a nation founded on the values of Islam. I do not mean to say that a non-muslim has no values, what I mean to say is a muslim must have a "greater commitment" to the fantastic values he/she stands for.
